Position Summary
Conversion coating and impregnation of aluminum parts to specifications, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to customer specifications while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Punctuality and daily attendance.
- Operate conversion coating and impregnation equipment.
- Operate lead test equipment and quality checking tools.
- Inspect material for conformance to specifications.
- Keep work area clean, neat, and orderly.
- Requires standing, walking, and physical capability to operate hand truck.
- Move hazardous material to and from lyfanite area.
- Housekeeping of areas other than immediate workstation.
- Performs other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo Penta goals and objectives.
Within the framework of VPS/Quality/Environment are the following roles

- Follow all quality work instructions to ensure adherence to customer specifications.
- Follow all environmental work instructions to ensure adherence to Volvo requirements and other legal obligations
- Initiate kaizens and participate in cross-functional kaizens, as needed.
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Requires the ability to read, write, and follow instructions both written and spoken.
- Must have basic math skills.
- Must be able to participate in a team-spirited atmosphere.
- Must be able to bend to pick up parts weighing up to 40 pounds on a repetitive basis.
- A full range of vision and hand/foot coordination is required to operate equipment.
- Requires on-the-job training.
- Other training required: Impregnation training and chromate-conversion coating, chemical training, and waste treatment.
- RCRA training annually.
- Must not be color blind.
Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent required
Equipment Used and Working Environment
- Air-operated hand-held tools, bridge cranes, manipulators, leak test equipment, and quality checking tools.
- The environment is team oriented, well lighted, temperature controlled, and sometimes hectic.
- Exposure to fumes.
- Forklift training required.
- Safety critical position which requires passing random drug/alcohol screening(s).
